trauma-informed yoga classes in ithaca
129 West Falls St Ithaca NY 14850
Welcome to your Hometown Yoga Studio!
Yoga Farm is a trauma-aware yoga studio. In practice, that means we prioritize choice, consent, and nervous-system awareness in how we teach.
In most classes, we generally do not offer hands-on assists or adjustments, and teachers often cue from their own mats. Some students love hands-on assists, and others find them uncomfortable or activating — so we aim to avoid assumptions about what is welcome.
If you prefer hands-on assistance, you’re welcome to ask your teacher. Some teachers may be able to accommodate requests, and it’s always okay if the answer is “not today.”
Our studio’s roots are in Kundalini and Qigong, so many classes may include breathwork, meditation, and subtle-body awareness alongside physical movement. If you’re looking for a workout-only power flow experience, we may not be the best fit — and we’re happy to help you find what you’re looking for.

saturday, July 11th 7-8:30p
During this 90-minute experience, you'll practice a deep meditation before relaxing and opening your mind, body and spirit to the healing vibrations of the gongs and other vibrational instruments. You’ll leave feeling aligned, open to possibility, and deeply at peace.
During a gong meditation, participants are immersed in a symphony of resonant tones and vibrations, which can help induce a state of profound relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote mental clarity. The complex and harmonious soundscapes created by the gongs are believed to facilitate a natural healing process, aiding in the release of physical and emotional tension, while also encouraging a heightened sense of introspection and mindfulness. Gong meditations can be particularly beneficial for individuals seeking an alternative form of meditation that engages multiple senses and offers a path to inner peace and holistic well-being.
Participants can expect to be seated and lying down during the event according to each person’s comfort level. Wear clothes that allow the body to rest comfortably, bring any props you may need and a water bottle
Saturdays, July 25th, Aug 1st & 8 th 10:30-11:30am
Join a powerful group on the path to freedom, with the goal of collectively raising our vibration in unison.
Steve Cullen guides you through a three-part, trauma-informed series to free your voice. Using our own innate vibrational power, we will target universal energetic centers in the body, specifically the throat and third eye chakras of communication and intuition. Steve guides you with energetic and psycholinguistic technologies—including Emotional Freedom Technique (“tapping”), mantra and chanting, as well as breathwork, yogic, and ancient meditation practices—to release trapped energy and trauma. This three week series will help you begin to discover your unique path, to transcend any limitations we or others may have placed upon us.

LivAvtar will lead you through the blissful practice of Kirtan chanting, sharing original songs from her years as a mantra singer and recording artist, as well as popular songs by artists like Krishna Das and Snatam Kaur.
As participants, you are invited to chant along, drop into a profound state of meditation, and/or move to the music as you feel inspired.
Kirtan chanting is a soulful musical practice involving the repetition of mantras from different traditions accompanied by simple melodies. Participants engage in call and response singing, creating a communal and meditative state of flow and connection. Kirtan transcends cultural and religious boundaries, attracting people from different backgrounds who are seeking a meditative and heart-opening experience.
Rediscovering the Pelvis:
An Embodied Workshop in Breath, Connection & Gentle Movement
Saturday, August 22nd 11a-12:15p
What if the key to feeling more joyful, alive, and creative was somewhere you'd never thought to look? The pelvis holds so much — yet many of us have little conscious awareness of it until something feels tight, painful, or disconnected. This experiential workshop is an invitation to come home to this part of yourself, through breath, mindful awareness, and gentle movement.
We'll briefly explore the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor, then move into guided breath practice that reveals how the pelvic floor naturally moves with every inhale and exhale — a subtle rhythm most of us have never been taught to feel. Together, we'll discover how the pelvis can become a gateway to vitality, creativity, and joy — qualities that rise to the surface as awareness and gentle movement bring this part of the body back into felt experience.
This workshop is open to all experience levels. A large portion of our time together will be spent lying down or seated, with an emphasis on breath and somatic awareness rather than a traditional yoga class.
