What happens when doing the right thing feels like doing the wrong thing?

Yoga is more than movement, it's a practice rooted in self-inquiry, ethics, and courageous action. Duty and Dissent: Examining the Bhagavad Gita and Persepolis is a transformative course designed for yoga teachers ready to deepen their understanding of philosophy, identity, and resistance through two powerful texts: the ancient Indian epic Bhagavad Gita and Marjane Satrapi’s graphic memoir Persepolis.

Through guided readings, discussions, and reflective prompts, you’ll examine how spiritual texts and lived experience both illuminate the yogic path—and the responsibility that comes with it.

Perfect for yoga teachers, seekers, and thinkers who want to move beyond asana and into the heart of yoga’s ethical, historical, and revolutionary dimensions.

Jeannie O’neill

Jeannie O’Neill, M.Ed. 500E-RYT; a former Social Studies teacher who spent many years teaching the untold perspectives of US History and Government through the non-dominant narrative.

  •  Her undergraduate studies included assisting her Professors in compiling research on Race, Social Class and power dynamics in the US following the Civil War, particularly in states that were historically abolitionist. Her undergraduate research was on how White Feminist narratives often contributed to the structural and systemic racism in the US, as well as in the British Empire. Jeannie was inspired by her Social Studies teachers who managed to infuse this nondominant narrative into their curricula; from 6th through 12th grade these incredible educators provided the foundation for a lifelong commitment to teaching outside the box.
